Vicente Aleixandre (1898-1984) was a Spanish poet of great importance in the 20th century. He belonged to the so-called Generation of 27 and was also a member of the Royal Spanish Academy (he occupied the letter O in the chairs of the institution)

During his lifetime, he received several important awards, such as the Critics' Prize for the enormous quality of his work, the National Prize for Literature in Spain and, in his artistic maturity, he was the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.

This last distinction not only recognized his creative work, but also, in a way, that of all the poets of the Generation of 27.

After joining the Royal Academy, it was said that pure poetry without attachments had entered such a noble group.

This consideration is not surprising, since he was considered the first, or one of the first, surrealist poets in Spain.
