O’Halloran to retire from QBE

Legendary QBE Group CEO Frank O’Halloran will retire on August 17.

He will be replaced by Global Underwriting Operations CEO John Neal.

  • QBE Chairman Belinda Hutchinson made the announcement this morning. She says the detailed succession planning for the role “has been under way for over two years, including a rigorous internal and external candidate review process”.

    In a statement she paid tribute to Mr O’Halloran’s role as “the architect of QBE’s international expansion”. He has grown premiums from around $US1.5 billion a year to $US18 billion.

    “Frank is keen to continue working with QBE and we are pleased that he has agreed to return as a non-executive director shortly before the 2013 AGM.

    We believe his continued involvement on the board will be welcomed by investors.”
